Evelyn Chestnut Cox Cooke, age 87, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018.

Born March 11, 1930 in Conway, she was the daughter of the late Orbin and Blanche Boyd Chestnut. Evelyn, better known as "Nanny" loved her flowers and working in her yard. She enjoyed fishing on the river. She always had a loving heart and her favorite words were "I Love You". She will be greatly missed by all that have known her. Evelyn was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and was employed with Southland Nursery for over 30 years. She and her first husband operated Walon Cox Grocery in the Shell Community for many years.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Walon Cox and her second husband, Clyde Cooke; her brothers, Vernon, Lonnie, and Audi Chestnut; a sister, Vera Tyler; and her sons-in-law, Sleepy Stevens, Martin Henry Williamson, and Olean Stalvey.

Surviving are her five children, Joyce Williamson, Jackie Stevens, Buddy Cox, Ricky Cox (Shelby), and Frances Prince (Mike); her grandchildren, Tracey Campbell, Mishellie Smith, Martin Williamson, Justin Cox, Brooks Cox, Carmin Samaha, Cristin Cox, Mark Prince, and Dart Prince; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Velma Hodges; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Vereen (Rollins) and Elise Chestnut; several nieces and nephews; her special caretaker, Jeanine Schoentube; and her precious dog, Lucy.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. Rodney Hord officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM Saturday evening at the funeral home.
