Mary Delk “Dooley” Todd, 79, of Pontiac died Friday, February 27, 2015. Born March 3, 1935 in Columbia, she was the daughter of George Walter and Bertha Lee Delk. She was a lifetime member of Spears Creek Baptist Church. After graduating from Dentsville High School in 1953, she worked at Silvers in downtown Columbia; fell in love and married a sailor. She was married September 5, 1959 to her husband of 55 years, Clarence Levon Todd. A devoted military wife, she followed him wherever he was stationed. “Dooley” had a great sense of humor. Her favorite hobbies were raising her grandkids, singing in the church choir, and teaching children at Spears Creek Baptist Church.

She raised four children, daughter, Wanda “Susie” (Sonny) Ariail; sons, Troy (Tammy) Todd, Stephen (Kristi) Todd, Paul “Scottie” (Wendy) Todd; grandchildren, Austin (Ashley) Ariail, Ryan (Annette) Ariail, Corbin Ariail, Gabrielle (John) Watson, Kassidy Todd, Carle Todd, Brandon Todd, Lacey Todd, Bailey Todd, Heather Cooke, and Joshua Walters; great-grandchildren, Bennett Ariail, Elena Ariail, Emma Watson, Liam Todd, Emmalyn Cooke, and Willow Walters; sisters, Beatrice Jackson, Nioaka (Otis) Richardson, Mildred Sessions, Lillie Bell (Bill) Wilcox; brother, George “Bubba” Delk; three generations of nieces and nephews, too many to name; her two little dogs, Peanut and Biscuit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Potter; brothers, Randolph Delk and Adolph Delk; sisters-in-law, Jean Delk and Mary Francis Nance; brothers-in-law, Russell Jackson, Edward Jeffers, and Robert Sessions.

A funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock, Sunday, March 1st, at Spears Creek Baptist Church with The Rev. Greg Sweet and The Rev. Sonny Ariail officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Saturday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Memorials may be made to Spears Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 116 Spears Creek Church Road, Elgin, SC 29045.
