Johnnie Walter Todd, 93, of the Daisy community passed away Sunday morning, March 27, 2011 at home following a sudden illness.

Born Jan. 5, 1918 in Loris, he was the son of Furnie Cornelius Todd and Lucy Ann Hardee Todd.

He served his country with courage and honor in the U.S. Army after which he worked as a tobacco farmer. Even after retirement he still loved to work in his garden and take care of his cows.

Mr. Todd was an active lifetime member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, choir director, Sunday school teacher, treasurer and sang with the Hardee Quartet. He was always a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy and “PaPa” to all of his beloved family.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruby Graham Todd of the home; daughter Sonja “Kaye” Causey and husband Donald B. Causey of Loris; son Wallace Todd and wife Cindy McDowell Todd of Loris; grandchildren Kimberly Causey Strickland and husband Billy, Krystal Causey, Kandis Todd Johnson and Justin Todd; great-grandchildren Quentin, Bailey and Brayden Strickland; sisters Gladys Canada of Loris and Dorenda Long of Wilmington, N.C.; special sister-in-laws Chellie Todd and Elsie Graham and many loving nieces and nephews and his beloved church family.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother Donnie Horry Todd and sisters Esther Mae Todd Mishoe and Eulee Todd Gressel.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 at Cherry Hill Baptist Church with committal services following at Cherry Hill Cemetery. Pastor John Holmes and the Rev. Ragsdale Allsbrook will officiate services.
