Mr. Liston Thelton Hardee, age 88, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Regency Hospital following an illness. Mr. Hardee was born on July 29, 1920 in Loris, SC to Mr. Thelton Cromwell Hardee and Mrs. Lazettie Cox Hardee. Mr. Hardee served his country with courage and honor in the United States Army during World War II, he worked as a farmer and was a member of the S. C. Watermelon Association, owner of Liston T. Hardee & Son Fill Dirt & Backhoe Service, attended Simpson Creek Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of the D.A.V. and the V.F.W.

 

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Lene Skipper Hardee of the home, his son, Harold Hardee and wife, Judy of Loris, SC, two daughters, Annette Wallace and husband, Hal of Longs, SC, and Joyce Freeman and husband, Ken of Loris, SC, two brothers, Hoyt J. Hardee and wife, Martha of Loris, SC, and Waldo Hardee of Columbia, SC, three grandchildren, Kevin Davidson, Alan Freeman, and Greg Hardee, three great-grandchildren, Macey Freeman, Heather Hardee, and Blake Freeman, three step-grandchildren, Carey Moe, Amy Brumbles, and Steve Moe, seven step-great-grandchildren, Hunter, Cole, Clint, Dylan, and Tyler Moe, and Logan and Justin Cribb, and many nieces and nephews, and his longtime caregiver, Judy Johnson.

 

Mr. Hardee was predeceased by his two brothers, Eldred Hardee and Kenneth Hardee.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Simpson Creek Primitive Baptist Church with burial following at Carter Cemetery. Elder George Paul and Reverend Rory Thigpen will officiate services. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Hardwick Funeral Home.
