Henry Price, my 5th great uncle, was born to William and Ann Price sometime around 1732.  By 1759 Henry was living in Williamsburg Township at the Black River in South Carolina.  The town center there was called Kingstree, and it developed, and for a time thrived, within the greater Williamsburg Township.  In 1759 William joined the Williamsburg Minutemen to help defend the township against Indian attacks during the French and Indian War. After the war, Henry may have participated in local protests that occurred when the Minutemen became incensed against the British Crown and Parliament for failing to honor a promise to pay the brave Williamsburg men for their loyal and risky militia service.

In 1790 Henry was living at Williamsburg with his second wife, the widow Margaret McFaddin of Scot-Irish descent, and her two children, William and Hugh McFaddin.  Henry’s first wife, Elizabeth died sometime prior to 1790.

In 1798 Liberty County (formerly, Williamsburg County) was renamed Marion County, but even so, locals still referred to the county by its original name of Williamsburg.  Henry was about 78 years old when he died in 1810. In Williamsburg, sometime after late April that year.  His will was recorded and signed on April 27, 1810 but prior to the tax event of 1811.  Henry and his first wife, Elizabeth, had five known sons that reached maturity: John, William, Thomas, Charles, and Edmund.
