Ted Joseph Parker, age 63, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his home following a sudden illness.
He was born July 28, 1947 in Conway a son of the late A.D. Parker and the late Iree Todd Parker Graham Padgett. Ted attended the University of South Carolina and was a member of the ATO Fraternity. He was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. After returning to South Carolina, he served in the S.C. National Guard as a pilot at McEntire Air Base. In 1976 Ted moved to Virginia and became a successful real estate broker and owner of Homes, Inc. Realtors. Eventually, he returned to South Carolina and became a real estate developer. Ted treasured his friends in both Virginia and South Carolina. Upon returning to South Carolina, his life was further enriched by renewed childhood friendships and the closeness of his daughter and family members. His special joy was his granddaughter Annabelle. He will be missed by all.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Dana Iree Parker (Anthony Vaccaro) of Longs and her mother, Jan Parker Davis of Columbia, his granddaughter, Annabelle Iree Vaccaro of Longs, two brothers, Willard Parker (Daiwey Ann) of Longs and Jerry Parker (Heath) of Williamsburg, VA, three nephews, Ace Parker, Todd Parker, and Seth Parker, two nieces, Crystal Ray and Alexis Parker, three great nephews, Lane Ray, Hesston Ray, and Asa Parker, and one great niece, Brooke Ray.
Funeral services, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 9, 2011 from the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel (formerly Ward Funeral Home Chapel) with the Rev. Lebron Crisp officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service.
