LORIS — Mrs. Ruby Lee Fowler Blanton, age 78, passed away Friday, May 18, 2007, at the Loris Extended Care Center following an illness. 
Mrs. Blanton was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Columbus County, N.C., a daughter of the late Doctor Franklin Fowler and the late Rodie Sarvis Fowler. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Mrs. Blanton was a poll watcher for the Daisy voting precinct for many years and was an active member of Mt. Vernon Senior Citizens Center. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was well known for her chocolate cakes and quilts.
She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Samuel Hubert Blanton; three sisters, Lettie Sarvis, Ora Harrelson and Rose Fowler; and a brother, Kirby Fowler. Survivors include her three children, Linda Blanton Collins and her husband, Skeeter, of Summerville, Wendell Hubert Blanton and his wife, Lonell, of Conway, and Roger Dale Blanton and his wife, Donna, of Loris; a sister, Lunette Fowler of Loris; seven grandchildren, Tracy Blanton and his wife, Melanie, of Loris, Chris Collins and his wife, Amanda, of Summerville, Todd Blanton and his wife, Christy, of Tabor City, N.C., Terri Fowler and her husband, Matt, of Conway, Cary Collins and his wife, Kellie, of Summerville, Allyson Williams and her husband, Jeremy, of Loris, and Jason Blanton of Loris; and three great-grandchildren, Garrett, Mason and Leah. The family received friends Saturday night at Ward Funeral Home in Loris. 
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2007, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Graham and the Rev. Jim Ponder officiating. Entombment will follow in Twin City Mausoleum.
