Eugene F. `Gene' Johnson 

MULLINS Eugene F. ``Gene'' Johnson, 69, husband of Carolyn Holmes Johnson, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003. 

He was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Horry County, a son of Agnes Goff Johnson and the late Evander Franklin Johnson. 

He had retired from law enforcement after 32<span service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of Twin States Hunting Club and Wildlife Action. He as a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge No. 123 and the S.C. Law Enforcement Association. 

He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and attended Mullins First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Whosoever Will Sunday School class. 

Survivors, in addition to his wife and mother, include children Dianne Johnson Thompson of Wampee, Sherry Johnson King of Conway and Barry Franklin Johnson of Mullins; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Lavern Johnson, Eston Johnson, both of Loris, and Milton Johnson of Conway; and a sister, Fannie ``Sandy'' Holmes of North Myrtle Beach. 

He was predeceased by a son, Michael Hampton Johnson. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonightat Cox-Collins Funeral Home in Mullins. 

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Mullins First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
