The North Carolina Historical and Genealogical Register (1901), Vol 2 p. 337, Abstract of Bertie County Wills, which summarizes his will as follows:
"Harrell, Samuel, Jan'y 19, 1770; Sept. Court 1772. Wife Elizabeth, children Cader Harrell, Dorothy Billups, Kesiah Bond and Ann Harrell, son Cader and James Moore Exrs. Test, Noah Hinton, Jacob Jernagan, Josiah Blanchard."

But the will contains no daughter Dorothy by any surname:
       In the Name of God amen the Ninteenth Day of January 1770 I Samuel Harrill of the County of Bertie and Province of North Carolina Being of Perfect Sense and Memory Do make this my Last Will and Testament In Maner and form as Follows
       (Imprimis) I lend to my well beloved Wife Elizabeth Harrill my Three Negro women Rose Phelis and Pen During Hir Nateral Life and after hir Decease to be Equaaly Devided Between my Three Children Cader Harrill, Kazeah Bond and Ann Harrill the said Negros and their Increas Shair and Shair alike unto Them and their Heirs and assigns for Ever
       (Item) I give and Bequeath unto my Well Beloved Wife Elizabeth Harrill Heir Heirs and assigns for Ever Two Mairs Named Fancy and Blase one side sadle and Bridle Two Fether Beeds and Firniture Five Cows and Caves
       (Item) I give and Bequeathe to My Sun Cader Harrill his Heirs and assigns for Ever My Land and Plantation that I Now Live on with all the Preveleges there unto Belonging and two Hundred and Ninety Acres be it more or less of Land Lying in Edgecomb County on Town Creek and Two Negro Boys Sefer and Reuben and one Horse Named Sorrell one Mair Named Long Leags one young Bay Horse one Fether Beed and Furniture that he is Now possessed with
       (Item)       I give and Bequeathe unto My Daughter Kaziah Bond heir heirs and assigns for Ever Three Mairs one cald Diment on old White mare one young Black mare Two Negro Boys Named Simon and Harrey one Fether Beed and Furniture that she hath now In possession
       (Item)       I give and Bequeathe unto My Daughter Ann Harrill Heir Heirs and assigns For Ever One Negro madn Named Mingo one Negro Boy Named Abram one young Sorrell Horse Named Baul one Gray Rone Maer colt one Fether Beed and Furniture.
       I lend all My House Hold Furniture unto My Wife Elizabeth Harrill that is not hear in Before Mentioned Dureing hir Nateral Life and after hir Deceas To be Equally Devided Betweean my Three Childrean Cader Harrill, Kaziah Bond and Ann Harrill unto them and their Heirs For Ever Shair and Shair alike.
       (Item)       I give and Bequeathe to My Wife Elizabeth Harrill, Cader Harrill, Kaziah Bond and Ann Harrill their Heirs and assigns For Ever with all my Money and my Stock of Hogs with all the Remainder of me Estate of Every Kind what so Ever that is not above mentioned to be Equely Devided betweean them Four Shair and Shair alike. Except my Stock of Cattle
       (Item)       I give and Bequeathe unto my Three Children Cader Harrill, Kaziah Bond and Ann Harrell their Heirs and assigns for Ever all my Stock of Cattle Except Five cows and Caves afor Given to be Equealy Devided Betweean them. I likewise Constitute make and ordain My Son Cader Harrill and My Trustey Friend James Moore my Sole Executors of this My Last will and Testament and I Do hear by uterly Dissallow Revoke and Disanull all and Every otheir Forme or Testaments Wills Legacies and Bequeathes and Executeors By me In any ways Before Named Willed and Bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and No other to be my Last Will and Testament In Witnis where of I have hear unto set my Hand and Seale the Day and year above written.
