Samuel Hickman was born 1762 in South Carolina and died 1844 in Columbus County, North Carolina.  According to pension records, Samuel served in Captains James Mitchell Roberts and Harmon Davis's companies from July 21, 1778 to September 1781.  From October or November 1781 or until Declaration of Peace in Captain William Weathers, Albert Rue's and Joseph Waley's Companies in Colonel Horr's regiment.
He was living in Columbus County, North Carolina in 1828.  He was allowed pension on his application executed November 12, 1832 at which time he was seventy-one years of age.  His children received 33.33 per annum.  No children were named.
Samel also enlisted in the War of 1812 on July 23, 1813 and was discharged on August 1, 1813.  He must have been too old.  From his military records, he would have been 52 years old.
