Lonnie Lester Todd, age 89, of the Dorman's Crossroads section of Horry County died Saturday, July 27, 2018.
Mr. Todd was born in Loris, a son of the late Newsome George and Leila Mease Hardee Todd. He was a member of New Home Baptist Church where he was known as the "Candy Man".
Mr. Todd was a former race car driver, driving the #8 Ford, on tracks all around our area. He was a member of the Chicora Car Club. Mr. Todd enjoyed camping and fishing.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter; a sister, Vera Todd Holmes and a nephew Hop Holmes.
Surviving are: his wife of 68 years, Genav "Gen" Todd of Conway; son, Arthur V. Todd of Conway; daughter, Lonell T. Blanton (Wendell) of Conway; grandchildren, Terri Fowler (Matt) and Todd Blanton (Christy); great grandson, Jake Fowler; a step grandson, Tracy Blanton; a niece Myrtle Holmes Owen of Loris, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday from New Home Baptist Church with Rev. Myron Pritchard and Rev. Roger Chestnut officiating. Burial will follow in Fox Branch Cemetery.
