HIGHLAND CITY, Fla. | Hal Bryan Chestnut, 77, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 6, 2008, from respiratory failure.

Born in Conway, South Carolina, he moved to Florida in 1954. Hal was a Korean War Army veteran, a member of First Baptist Church of Highland City, Fla.,and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 256, Free and Accepted Masons. He waspredeceased by his parents, Mashall and Mary Chestnut; stepmother, Gladys Chestnut; sister, Gertie Wilder; and brother, Lloyd Chestnut.

Survivors include his loving wife, Bernice; daughter, Janice Chestnut-Morgan of Bartow, Fla.; sisters, Lottie Mcelhaney of La Platta, Md., Gloria ''Tiny'' Zwack of Conway, Sarah Percival of Greenville, and Pam Adams of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Wendall Chestnut of Pawleys Island; and grandchildren, Sara McKinley and Sam McKinley.

Friends will be received at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 South Bartow Highway, Lakeland, Fla., from 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, with a funeral service to be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
