Obituary for Mr. Norman Alton James

Myrtle Beach, SC 
Mr. Norman Alton James, age 81, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center following an illness. Mr. James was born on February 6, 1928 in Conway, SC to Mr. Norman Curley James and Mrs. Cora Todd James. 

Attended Clemson University, Norman served his country with courage and honor in the U. S. Navy, worked as a S. C. Highway Patrolman, driver with Greyhound Bus Line, and for the last twenty plus years as owner and operator of City Barber Shop in Myrtle Beach. Norman was known throughout the area for visiting and providing free barber services to shut-ins. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. 

Survivors include his wife, Pearleen G. James, son, Bruce C. James and wife, Linda, daughter, Linda McKenzie and husband, David, sister, Veanna Talbot, and four grandchildren all of Myrtle Beach, SC, and his special uncle, Wilbur James and family of Loris, SC. 

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 24, 2009 from 2 until 4 PM with services at 4:00 PM in the Hardwick Memorial Chapel with burial following at Antioch Cemetery. Reverend A. D. Grainger will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Greenville, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or to the charity of your choice.
